All men should be Feminists

All men should be Feminists

John Legend, American singer, and songwriter once said, “All men should be Feminists. If men care about women’s rights, the world would be a better place.”

There used to be a time when expressing such an opinion would result in stereotypes such as “bra burners” or cause controversies associated with racial and religious exclusions. Fortunately, more and more people are beginning to perceive that feminism is not about hating men, but about equality between genders.

With an increasing number of celebrities bringing attention to gender equality and most importantly, male celebrities such as David Schwimmer, Chris Hemsworth, Harry Styles and Will Smith to name a few, championing awareness of women’s equality, almost another wave of feminism movement is being reinvigorated.

All that being said, still in an alarming 90% of countries, sexist laws are impeding women’s progress and women are victims to higher rates of violence, abuse and inequality.

Therefore, it’s far from being over and more awareness and calls to action are needed.

After all, the requirements for being a feminist are not that hard really… All you need to do is believe that men and women deserve equal rights.
